St John's Anglican Church Ballan is proud to host the Ballan Aged Care Hostel memorial service. This service is held every year to remember and give thanks to all the aged-care residents who have passed away over the past twelve months. It is an opportunity for family members, friends, staff and residents to come together in their memory.
Due to covid restrictions, this service will be streamed by Zoom. We hope you find some meaning, solace and peace from this service.
When will the service be held?
Thursday, November 25 from 1:30 PM
It will go for about 20-30 minutes.
How do I participate?
You can join the service by Zoom 15 minutes before the service starts. Just click on the button above and follow the prompts to join the service.
Do I need to have my camera or microphone on?
No, you can join with your camera off and your microphone muted if you would prefer.
However, the group view of everyone who has joined the service by Zoom will be projected onto a screen for all the residents and staff to see. This is important, as it helps the residents feel that you are with them. They have lost friends and neighbours too. Having your camera on will help with this, but it is not compulsory.
What will happen during the service?
The service will be led by the Reverend Glen Wesley. Fr Glen has been taking the memorial services each year since 2014. The service will be a bit like a funeral. There will be prayers, a scripture reading, a short message from Fr Glen and the reading aloud the names of each resident who has died over the past year.
The service is also an opportunity to give thanks for the hard work of the hostel staff over the past year.
The words of the service will be presented on your screen so that you may participate as though you were will us in person.
Can I do anything at my end to make the service special?
Light a candle or have a favourite flower nearby. Something that reminds you of the loved one you have lost.
If you have any questions about the service, please feel free to call Fr Glen on 0429 146 566.
