The dead Christ and three mourners by Andrea Mantegna 1431-1506
There is a resonance between our lives amid COVID-19 and this pause in between the death and resurrection of Christ. Both bring tragedy and grief and bravery and challenge and joy and sacrifice and an outpouring of...whatever it is that we are feeling. Both turn our lives inside out, knowing they will never be the same again. But we don't yet know how. There is a quietness to this time. So we wait. We lament. We yearn for something more than routine. We yearn for a simple handshake. A hug.
We wait. And the sun will come up tomorrow.
